Roseate Spoonbill

Audubon Article about this beautiful bird

I wouldn't be surprised.
Isn't this oil spill a worst case scenario yet?
Is it an Exxon Valdez every 2 days?

One of these was shown on the news last night. Very sad. Beautiful painting tho!!!

Beautiful how you've captured this gorgeous bird in flight.

To think that they were once almost wiped out because of plume hunters - now, just another kind plume stalks them.

The horror is still just unimaginable. Thank you for honoring the life in the Gulf - and happy Summer Solstice.

You are outdoing yourself daily -- and in an opposite way than the oil leak numbers --

I was here earlier and couldn't leave a message. Shut my computer down and am back now, just in time to tell you how much I adore this latest tribute to the oil spill animals. Another fitting tribute to an endangered species.

I was at my dad's on Fathers Day... the house I grew up in. There's a pond across the street. We were standing out in the yard and a Roseate Spoonbill flew over us and landed at the edge of the pond. The first one we've ever seen there in all of my 50 years. They are so beautiful.
