photo edits

-there was a beautiful sky today-

I'm doing a little "taste test" of photo editing apps on my android

Straight off the phone:
Using Snapseed:
Using Pixlr:

I think I like the one straight off my phone the best. What do you think?

fold in peace

An alternate activity this inaugural weekend:

The peaceful practice of folding cranes

The idea of folding cranes for peace and healing comes from a little girl, Sadako Sasaki, who died in 1955 of radiation induced leukemia.
(You can read about it HERE)

stitch a story

I finished my stitching project begun yesterday

Well, begun by ME yesterday

This was actually in the making for almost a hundred years - right?

It's a photograph from my collection of adopted and anonymous people.

Aren't these women amazing?

I wonder what their story was?
It seems to include great hats.

Ingredients:
Vintage handmade lace
Vintage buttons with thread attached
Vintage metal embroidery hoop
Vintage anonymous photo
Teabag paper and thread

sounding

out of the deepest water
out of the fathoms of the sound
a stillness percolated
and
thoughts sifted upwards
spoken to the sky
aloft unto stars
your depths
plus my shallows
equals surface tension

stormy people

I know a stormy person

But what I also know, is that they are boxed in with physical pain.

It is important for me to remember that when they are stormy with me.

walk with me

... through the winter garden.

Sage wisdom rests deceptively,
While summertime joy rusts on the wall,
And buds wrestle wood and frost and bone.
Birds have a dwindling pantry.
Grief remembers it still.
Other ghosts will always remain defiant
Even as lost lagan and derelict are sheltered like treasure.

Mrs Abernathy

After so many years of near agoraphobia
I currently work part time as a cashier

I meet so many people
They are (almost all) so lovely

Now, I enjoy drawing and painting faces
Where, before, I couldn't do it to save my life

This is Mrs Abernathy
Lover of birds and buyer of birdseed

winter sky

The sky in wintertime often reminds me of the inside of a seashell

a daily practice

I am unapologetic about the attention
- or lack thereof -
 I give to my blog
The ebb and flow of blogging has had a lot to do with my personal life.
I am struggling to commit to myself.

In deciding to commit, blogging can become representative of my commitment.
We'll see how I do.

Intention is everything when it comes to art.
The fact is, I create something every single day.
Whether it is small or large makes no difference.

I have decided to post that daily work as a digital log of my daily practice.

Thank you for visiting.
Love, kim
