brown pelican

The poster child of this disaster
here he is ...
 not floating in oil
... it's just his shadow in the rippled water.

Read this story about 62 rehabilitated Brown Pelicans released into the wild on the Texas coast.
It's a hopeful tale in the midst of what IS a WCS (worst case scenario).

Another beautiful image, Kimmie, of another beautiful resident of the Gulf.

I am very touched by your art and your desire to use it to get the word about this catastrophy out and in your face, as you said. In many ways it is all we can do, but at least we can do something.
Your peilcan friend is magnificent.

This one might be my favorite yet. I am so impressed by how well you have drawn the pelican's shadow in the water. My jaw dropped when I saw it. Great painting.

He's beautiful... and so is your empathy... Is that the right word? That you feel what the affected feel? I think so... Anyway, you know what I mean... You're a beautiful soul...
