sunny day tea

I'm sitting out back with my frosty iced tea

... a little bit of down time in the afternoon ...
it's after school and the Garden Guy is working on his newest rose bed
and I'm working on the last book in The Hunger Games trilogy
(my girls got me hooked)
the books are a satisfying read
page turners
imagination getters
conversation starters

... but, I'm not getting much reading done with this to distract me:

*
how are you spending your down time today?
I hope you have some down time ... even if it's just a minute to look up at the sky

Phoebe made me read them, though somehow I managed to get away with having not read the third.... not sure how that happened... sounds like a lovely way to spend the day though, in the garden reading and sipping iced tea while someone else makes the garden look good... quite jealous... and I have to say the photos in reflected and fragile absolutely blew me away... just stunning... you are so very very talented... xx

I only read the first half of The Hunger Games. I don't know why, but I can never get through fantasy and dystopian fantasy is even more difficult for me! I'm not so good with contemporary YA books --

Is that a mackerel sky? I always remember that expression used in a movie that had Meryl Streep in it -- something or other in England.

They are on my list to read soon. I just ordered some books from Amazon last night...books like Plant Dreaming Deep and Journal of a Solitude by May Sarton, Plato's Republic, and True Vision (art journaling). I still love to hold a book, even though a Kindle would be nice at times. Today, I'm visiting my sister and we will be running around enjoying the day...visiting the art center etc. Down time for me is when I'm home alone, doing my thing in my studio or garden. I enjoy it.

I've been seeing forecasts of your weather. Unseasonably hot with beautiful skies. OK, I threw that last part in. I had not even heard of these books until I saw the movie was based on "the bestseller." I admit, I'm not much of a fiction book reader. I used to read every day, now I find excuses why I don't have time.

Have a super awesome tea Tuesday. Sorry I can't stick around to say hi to everyone this early morning. I'm out the door in a few minutes with a very busy day. Here's my tea post:

I picked up the Hunger Games trilogy like you after i saw the movie was from a 'best seller'...I must say i thought the first book was better than the movie. So i bought the other two. They are ....good. Nothing to shoot off fireworks about though and wonder what inspired them to send it to movie production. I know your not that far yet so i won't spoil it but i was a little disappointed with the ending......felt...rushed and just not satisfying......love to know what you think . Hugs! deb

I was watching some lambs playing in the meadow... Could sit there for hours just looking at the white dots...

Haven't seen the movie or read the books. Don't even know what they are about. I am sadly out of the loop, I guess. But--the sky!! Love me some sky! I can be distracted by sky, birds, cats...well, too many things, I guess. ;)

iced tea would match the chill and wet rain in the air today. and predicted to get colder at the end of the week.

saw the Hunger Games movie while on the Cape. Gripping. I may see if the library has the first book and try to read to see what all the hoopla is about.

The boy and I have talked about reading that series. Neither of us have started though.
Had a lot on my plate today. IT's Tuesday after all. :)

Finished the first two am reading MonkingJay now. Why do I like them? Kids killing kids. It was awful, but now I get it and they are really well written. My brother turned me on to them and he is 75 yrs young! LOL
