Have you tried doing "morning pages"? from Julia Cameron's book: The Artist's Way?
I have tried and failed several times.
Until now.
My notebook is small - just 3.5 x 4.5 inches - and instead of three pages I do just one.
And instead of free write - I do a free collage.
But, as Julia promised us, it's nearly always a surprise at what comes out.
It's that sweet pearl of thought that falls miraculously out of the swirl.
Something to go on for the rest of the day.

This is a magnificent post. No, I don't do the pages. No matter what, I would be stuck. But you have made them your own and that surely is what The Artist's Way must be about, don't you think?
Maybe I should translate it to fiber. I'll have to think about that!
thanks for the post. It's very inspirational.

What a lovely practice. I also start with good intentions, but never seem to make it each day...these are marvelous and yes, always surprising I bet. xox
Love these !! Well, I am a journal and collage fan....but what you have done is so free and arty and beautiful. Off to look up Julia Cameron and her book now. You never fail to inspire me; thank you. xx
did a smaller version of daily pages with collage when we were travelling for the month of June...but then had to let it go...getting up at 3am to make it to work by 5am...coffee and shower is the only thing on my mind! but I love your pages!
YOU are something else. I love your collages -- love the idea of your collages and how you've tweaked the Cameron way -- how you've jumped right outside of the box! And I love that last collage -- very, very cool.
These are just wonderful ... your daily pages couldn't be better!
Wishing you a wonderful, art-filled week!

collage would be my perfect cup of tea too Kimmie...
really lovely pages and what a fun sized book...
creating without thinking too much is full of lovely surprises!

i remember thinking i had failed julia because i just couldn't keep up...i do what i can too...the key for me is to do something...each day or each week or whenever you can...developing a habit, even if it's haphazard...once you create the pathway for it, it will bug you until you satisfy it ;) somedays it's a full painting (taking the entire, heavenly day) and sometimes it is a snapshot on my phone...so happy to still have a connection with you here in bloggy buddy land, kimmie...your pages are awesome...i especially like 'they foretold nothing'....and 'even in my earlier ignorance of boundaries' that is my fav
Good for you! Make it your own, I say! I'm glad to know we are on a parallel path with the Artist's Way and Morning Pages. I received a gift of 3 small paperback notebooks, beautifully bound, for my birthday, and I'm using those. No pressure, and portable!
(P.S.: Some weeks take me much longer than a week to get through. Does this happen to you?)
Yes! I've been on week 4 for the last 3 weeks - funny :)
Oh yes these are great, and I love the idea - not sure if the morning is the right time for me to do it as mornings are full of rushing out the door - still want to see if I can fit it in though. Great collages! Off to check out the book!
I've not heard of the book so...no. ha! I'm enjoying your pages though. Jumping out of the box sounds like a great idea.
