(the rubbermaid solution)
about a week and a half ago I had to pack up my art cupboard for a flooring project
I could have unpacked everything DAYS AGO
.... and the last couple of days I've been at loose ends ...
.... wondering why I'm borderline depressed .....
argh!
I hate that feeling of impending doldrums
could it be that I miss my art supplies?
I haven't been inspired to create anything
so there has been no rush to clean up
(the cupboard is nearly bare)
"never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow"
-Mark Twain
(that wasn't so hard)
well, it must be that "day after tomorrow," Mr. Twain
this is my cupboard
isn't it cool?
it was a wedding gift from very good friends
I like to imagine how they must have known I would need my own space
all I need is a lock on it :)
I painted it myself
I know that's anathema to paint on vintage stuff
much less clean it up
but I did both
leaving my mark I guess

(shells and rocks awaiting a zentangle tattoo)
(rubber for carving my own stamps)
(my alphabet inchie project - only about 12 more to go)

You said it first, but... I feel your pain! Last week was "today," and today must be the day after tomorrow, 'cause I'm finally getting things done... after putting them off for a week ;)
I only wish that the things I'm getting done were more fun and more crafty.
I love your cabinet.
It's interesting you mentioned feeling the doldrums. I've been that way for over a week myself. I'm still producing art but at a snail's pace?
Your art cabinet is just lovely.
Ohhhh! I thought I was the only one with a case of the art doldrums!!! Last week was terrible for me - just couldn't get inspired at all.
Your cabinet is beautiful, Kimmie. You did a beautiful job painting it. Love the quote! Mark Twain is one of my faves. **sigh** I've been working my way out of my little space and need to clean up. Maybe I'll find a bit of inspiration too! After all . . . today is the tomorrow you put off yesterday!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo
Your cabinet is absolutely beautiful.
,lovely cabinet. Carl Larsson and family painted their furniture. Maybe it wasnt vintage but new, but now it is vintage.
Doldrums, very good word. I too am afflicted. The change of seasons??
This post makes me so happy. And I love what you did to the cupboard. It has a Swedish feel, I think.
I guess the dog days of summer are getting to us all. Getting things organized and finding things you had forgotten in the stash usually helps, though. I love your cabinet and the little tableaus of what you found.
Know those doldrums...you did a real good job cleaning up...and that is a fine cabinet...for all your art supplies. I think you will be on to something quite wonderful before you know it.
I'm a big fan of antiques, but the paint actually seems to enhance this cupboard. I was amazed at how few supplies you need to make your art. I do love the idea of zentangles on sea shells. I have some of that same gasket material in hopes of turning them into stamps, too. I hope you will show your results and provide me with some much needed inspiration and guidance.
i relish seeing your space where so mmuch magic happens .. i think painting furniture is wonderful..a very special way to add your stamp to a piece
One of my favorite quotes-.. ....tomorrow is another day... - from GWTW- the theme phrase of all procrastinators!!!
Looks like everything is back in order- let the creation begin!!!
your cabinet is lovely and extra special with your Kimmie touches!
I find when the change of seasons loom near I get a little out of balance and that can affect my creativity too ... every muse needs a rest now and then
I am lucky to have a rock and seashell that you doodled on ... sweet treasures
sending BIG VA hugs to you dear Kimmie!
