the jackpot

I'm always on the hunt for beach glass
and while on a family outing today we found a bonanza of it
(it helps to have extra eyes on the lookout)

bonanza
noun
1. a source, usually sudden and unexpected, of luck or wealth
2. (Mining & Quarrying) US and Canadian a mine or vein rich in ore
[from Spanish, literally: calm sea, hence, good luck, from Medieval Latin bonacia, from Latin bonus good+malacia dead calm, from Greek malakia softness]

beach glass and pottery shards
about a pound of it
wow!

cities on the water have old dump sites where the glass and pottery is plentiful
years of tumbling among the stones wear them down

and this fella could have cared less
:)

he's just happy to have a sunny day

What a bowl full of beauty! I've seen beach glass on Etsy and think it's so neat. Of course I live in Nebraska...so I've wondered if the rock tumbler I bought at an auction with the dishes I break or chip could turn out neat results. Tumbled glass doesn't seem to have the same ring to it as beach glass though does it. :)

but tumbled beach glass does in my book! How beautiful it is. That heart piece is already a winner too.

I don't think I realized how very close to the water you live. To see that much sea glass together is sort of overwhelming! I don't think I've ever spotted more than one piece at a time --

Wow great haul.....but I have to say it's almost a shame there is so much of it cos it means at aome time it was dumped into the sea:(

I have to confess that I've never looked for beach glass, never mind collected it. But rest assured I will be looking next time I hit the beach.
The bowl collection looks lovely...now I'll just have to wait to see what amazing things you do with it!
Have fun ;D

That is quite the treasure!
I happened to be in VA in March and after a storm, one of the girls there went out and did some searching on the beach. What pretty tumbled glass you BOTH found.

Thanks for sharing your bowl of beauties!

Your bowl of beach glass looks so, so pretty. We never find any thing like this on our beaches........I don't know if thats a good or bad thing ? I spose you could see it as our beaches being very pristine and unpolluted by 'man-made' materials. I know your beautiful findings will always be upcycled into something creative and equally wonderful. Love that lazy ol seal. xx

Nice shots! I love the heart and the bowl filled with it all--all tumbled glass is fair game for me. I have a big cheaters' collection of purchased stuff, but never get to peruse the beach for my own finds. Lovely

Beach glass sounded sharp and scary to me...but then it does look naturally tumbled smooth. Pretty, actually. I never thought of beaches and glass together. Can you tell I haven't been to the ocean for at least 45 years--LOL! ;)

Very lovely bowl of treasures. I love collecting beach glass too, as well as shells. Hey, do you want some more AK bottle caps? I've been collecting some and will probably send you a package soon.
