flower prints

this is a fun project

what you will need:
2 pieces of heavy paper (watercolor paper or card stock)
flowers (pansies and poppies work great because they're juicy)
rubber mallet
old towel

sandwich your flowers between the paper and pound the heck out of it
sandwich your sandwich in a towel - this helps contain everything

after a first go around, have a peek to see how it's looking

add more flowers and repeat if you want to

your end result is a flower print like this one

some of the flower detritus sticks to the paper
I like that

now - what to make with this?
maybe a journal cover?
or a collage background?
hmmmm ......

I've also seen this done on cloth. Then you can make a copy of the cloth and use the cloth, too. But I like the look on paper, too. I forgot all about this technique. Thanks for the reminder. Spring is the time for bright colored flowers! :)

Oh pretty I like the detritus too, makes it more textural. I bet it would make a lovely journal cover. Thanks for the tip. xox

You used much prettier flowers than I did when I pounded mine about a month ago. Of course, I don't have a full yard of flowers like you. Yours are to die for.

it seems somehow wrong to bash flowers with a mallet... but I kind of want to do it now... xx

Great what you made with the leaves. I put flowers and leaves into the Big Shot then you get a embossed print to. !!!
