I had a turtle neck sweater that was too itchy on my neck
so I cut off the ends of the sleeves and made these fingerless gloves
I snipped a hole in the side seam where my thumb could go
... then I blanket stitched around the hole and added a little stitched flower
I folded up the cut edge and hemmed it with embroidery floss
now I'm scavenging my closet for more itchy sweaters that I don't really like

Wonderful! My daughter is asking for some of these for Christmas/Birthday. Never thought if blanket stitching. DUH! Love the added little flower.

I love these! But with arthritis in my fingers I like them when they have a bit of thumb coverage. I have a pair that I got from target a few years ago that have a thumb. These are lovely!

so clever. i like the way the stitches are in a contrasting color. it sounds much easier than what i'm trying to do which is knit some fingerless gloves. you would think it would be easy but remember i am fumble fingers and a new knitter. We shall see.

Fabulous ! I can't do itchy either. I brought home a brand new (expensive) dress from the charity shop where I work to try on ... I knew it would be "Itchy" Not only that... it picked up every bit of dust & dog hair around ... no wonder it was donated .. I retrned it !

They are really cute, Kimmie ! Some of the cutest ones I have seen ! Goodwill stores is a great place to check for sweaters to repurpose. 'Cause you know you gotta make many more now ! ;-)

OMG, what an AWEsome idea, Kimmie!!! Believe it or not, I've tried to knit some fingerless gloves for my grand daughters. BIG mistake!!! Nothing but problems with two patterns. Looks like a trip to the thrift store is in order . . . . I can sew better than I can knit!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo

Loving the gloves! I have been thinking about doing this with some alpaca socks that have holes in them. No reason to throw out the rest of the sock!!!
