pretty cups all in a row

These are the teacups I finished up today
(except for the 2nd from the left which is Jean's).
The most useful information I gleaned from her tutorial
was in the preparation of the image and in the sketching of it.
I feel well equipped to try painting people now,
which is something I've never really been able to do.
In part 2, she goes into an extensive explanation of the watercolor technique,
which if you haven't tried watercoloring, she covers basically everything.
The only difference in our approaches is her use of frisket or mask.
I have never done this.
I was "taught" to use the water and the whiteness of the paper to get the transparency and highlights I need (I say "taught," but certainly don't mean "taught correctly").
My work is also maybe a little bit fussier and detailed than hers.
I always envy the artist who can freely play, and Jean clearly is just that.
She is also an excellent explainer of the process ... I highly recommend that you try your hand at this.
Her tutorial is a great place to start.
Thanks Jean!
I look forward to next week, which I hear is People!

Good job, Kimmie! I love your teacups and want to learn watercolors, so I am going through Jean's tutorials also. She makes me feel so much better because I need things like tracing to get me going. Thanks for posting -- it's helping me through to another level in my art.

xoxo!! Joyce

Love this cabinet as well! Don't get me wrong...love the work that's posted too but I simply can't pass up beautiful pieces of furniture without comment! I'd fill my house with them if I could!

I play a lot...what I lack is discipline to hold still sometimes and learn something new...Jean's tuts do look wonderful and inspired...I need to stop saying I don't have the time and make it happen...
Jean and You sure make it look easy and oh so beautiful...your teacups (I spy a pink rose one) are simply splendid and charming and I LOVE them each and every one dear Kimmie!
