mend and make do

(I took these pictures yesterday
it was a sunny day believe it or not!
winter light is tricky at best)

*

a stack of teabag papers
and you know me well - to know it is one of my favorite things

just one of the things I love:
stitching on them

this was a whitework embroidery vanity cloth of my grandmothers
unfortunately, there were many tears and stains
but they mend beautifully with teabag paper patches and sashiko stitching

they were stashed in a stack of old mending ...
... now they are individual wall hangings

  6. Wow! Absolutely exquisite Kimmie. I'm a sucker for anything that showcases old textiles, but these pieces really are spectacular!

  10. I just popped over to catch up and loved those foggy and frosty photos... so wonderful... and I love orange smells all year round, though they are more wintery so I don't associate them with Christmas... for us christmas smells like mangoes and watermelon...
and those wall hangings... stunning... such a pleasure to catch up on your wonderfulness

  12. Such treasure sensitively restored and preserved artistically. Wonderful.
Popped in to say that the Lueneburer Pilsner is one of the best beers I've tasted. The Maeltzer really is a special place I always visit when I am over there. Thanks for your comment and you've spurred me to save T bags now!
