it's been rainy and gray outdoors
and a good day to stay in
one of my birthday gifts was a stack of hexagon quilt squares
made from vintage fabrics and handstitched
... they were just waiting for me to come along
I've set aside some of the squares that aren't being included in a mini quilt I'm working on
they make darling little mug rugs
- the perfect thing to work on when it's so dreary outdoors -
making rainbows in spite of the weather
:)
i love the idea of making rainbows!! hope you had a nice birthday...your tin of floss is lovely...so are your rug mugs!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I have several unfinished projects that I inherited with a massive stash of fabric...oh about 25 yrs ago...I couldn't let the wonderful pieces go.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you have your thread organized as well.
oooh...these are so pretty! i've been missing my quilting projects....working too much.
ReplyDeleteyou've inspired me to make the time to get to it. thanks!
OK, did I miss your birthday? I hope not, but if I did, happy belated!!
ReplyDeleteYou have such skill. You may have gotten those hexagons, but the circles you created for those mug rugs are PERFECT. I was just mentioning to Halle that if I can't tear it (fabric), I don't use it. You certainly have a way with fabric and HAND sewing, too.
Your floss is so well organized. The perfect way to keep it all together.
It was your birthday? Belated good wishes:) love the mug rugs, the mugs look so cosy:)
ReplyDeleteadorable mug rugs

I too reeeeaaalllly dislike the gray days of winter here...but you have brightened my day with the words, vunatge, and fabric, and your gorgeous creations!
ReplyDeleteWhat organizational skills you have Kimmie! All that floss so neatly separated in rows and colors! You always know how to find the sun even when it is raining!
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable! I love how you have added another generation to something old and useful. I hope who ever inherits them keeps them then passes them on with the story that surely goes with them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your fun comment on my blog today too!!!
Beautiful! Sorry I missed your birthday...hope it was a happy one!
ReplyDeleteAre you using a baking tin for your floss? Looks so lovely! And using the hexagons to make mug coasters is a fabulous idea. You are so very creative! Best wishes, Tammy
