I made this piece using a trader joe's brown paper bag ...
which I
collaged
inked
tore
and just thoroughly messed with
... then I applied a patch of Watercolor Ground right in the middle of it
I waited the 48 hours or so that is recommended
and then I took it with me for my daily watercolor sketch from the car today
a winter hayfield nestled up against a forested hillside
here's a close-up so you can see the amazing texture of it all:

I am having trouble reading the new words we need to file our comment.
This is beautiful and soothing. What a great re-use of a bag.
This is incredible. It makes me want to play with fabric. In fact, I think I'll do that soon (grin). This is pretty amazing for a brown paper bag! Wish I had a Trader Joe's close to me.
Gorgeous!
Love this!
I've been wanting to try that ground stuff. :) this looks great the way you put it all together.

What an amazing piece and idea. So the "waterground" cures the paper to make it watercolor paper? Amazing. What WILL they think of next?
I *love* things made from brown paper bags, but don't think I've seen anything quite like this before--it's wonderful!!!
oh the is so cool!! Love everything about it.
Is that a wooden pants hanger? was that just to photograph it or is it part of the piece?
WOW this is fabulous on so many levels dear Kimmie...you must be so pleased with how it turned out!
