I've been trying to get myself "un-stuck" creatively.
Some people call on a "muse."
This is what I think: there are seasons and you gotta work with it.
I've knitted a sweater for my little girl, thrown 2 birthday parties, made 2 "from scratch" cakes, painted a bedroom, gotten the kids back into a school routine, started writing in my journal again .... definitely a very productive time .... just not any art stuff.
Today I'm turning to Mixed Media Monday (one of my favorite weekly challenge blogs).
It's definitely NOT Monday .... but I was inspired by their prompt.
In fact the inspiration came to me in the middle of the night - usually my inspiration time - it's very much like simply having a dream.
I imagined myself:
Assembling all of my collected "street and sidewalk" bottle caps from the summer.
Hammering them nice and flat.
Piercing holes in the edges to thread wire through and connect them.
And then .... I don't know what.
It will be an ongoing project.
What knitters fondly call WIP's (works in progress).
A little bit at a time - in the midst of life.
It's that kind of a season right now and I gotta work with it :)
15 bottle caps collected this summer
Found here in Washington and in Eastern Australia
This one is my favorite.
Just wondering if the beer was any good ....

creativity takes on many forms and i am happy to see that you know this...that would get hung on my covered patio I think...i will wait to see what you will do
What great photos Kimmie! I love the close ups, and a great take on the topic :-)
ooo i can't wait to see it keep progressing! wonderful idea and so colorful!
With all that's been on your place lately, I can understand why art took a bit of a back seat! Love the idea of wiring these great bottle caps. I'm sure that inspiration will strike with a another wonderful idea for a project! Hugs, Terri xoxo
This looks fantastic, Kimmie! I know what it's like to have a flat period artistically - but you have been so busy, it's no wonder you haven't done much art. It will all come flooding back, and you won't know where to start! Diane
What a brilliant idea, something I see you've had many times prior to this one :) !! I love the mosaics you've done too!! And like they say there's a time for everything and when the moment comes creativety rushes back and you're floded with it :) Have a wonderful weekend!! Love your work!!
Linda
Kimmie , I will follow this project !
Love Rini
Hi Kimmie, I had to laugh because I understand so well as my thoughts seem to always come during the night and usually turn out to be the best ones as far as art goes. I recently went through a dry spell in my muse and learned through the bible study my daughter Shari and I do that I don't always need to be doing something with my hands. That it is ok and even good to do nothing and just meditate, pray or reflect and listen. I've been more aware of this and trying to remember to do this and believe me, it is liberating. Hugs girl and have a great weekend. Mollye
Your posts so make me smile! Lovely Art. And great job on collecting the bottle caps. How do you make the holes in caps? Sounds like a tool I might have to have.
That is so cool! You could frame this (or not even bother with a frame) and hang it on your wall, or use it as a cover or page in your art journal, use it as placemats, table runner, ... whatever you like really.
Oh, my. You're giving me IDEAS....
Which I love, by the way, more than just about anything!
Okay. I can't help it. I have to respond to your lovely comment on my blog: When it comes to ideas, it isn't Need, it's Lust!
And I could SO say the same thing about you, lol!
it could be something as "normal" as a trivet or a part of some fantastic journal that is inside of you waiting to explode into reality!!! My creative muse works overtime -I can't keep up and never accomplish anything, it seems!!Lots of great ideas, nothing ot show for it..... I just wish I could point to someone, and say - here's my idea - make it so!!!! LOL
I know what these dry spells are like too, or times when you're just busy with other stuff (I'm writing a book). Loving the "found" element of this, and the trash to treasure aspect. Look forward to seeing what happens next!
i know what you mean about the come and go of art stuff. although i'm sure your morning pages and journal are very helpful art wise. fitting everything in to our busy world AND never letting our art drift away is sometimes a challenge. can't wait to see what you did with the bottle caps!
nothing like pounding holes in bottle caps!! you busy woman. with a grin, i'll remember hammers when i get stuck.
NOW, the question, how many more bottle caps do you have to add?
looks great!
fantastic way to enjoy your fab collection, they really look great this way Kimmie, can't wait to see how it grows!
you certainly are creative in every aspect of your life!
thanks for always inspiring me!
