Stitched Labels

Theme Thursday's theme this week is "labels" .... and Inspiration Flirtation (a new challenge spot) is "stitches." I thought I'd combine the 2 challenges with this project. I'm a recycle nut and one of my favorite things to save is labels. My favorites come from specialty brew beer bottles - like this label from Kona Brewing Co.'s Longboard Island Lager. And of course I save the bottle caps too. This is a pouch for my iPod nano. I used the main label for the front, the bottleneck label for the back and I turned the cap into a button. The fabric is a swatch of decorator fabric friended to me some months back from Jean at Bluebirds.

.... and in the spirit of Aloha, here's a little altered photo of my "recycled" indoor palm (rescued from a neighbors garbage can 2 years ago.) He was left for dead with only one leaf left on him. Now he's lush and beautiful and breathing aloha into my favorite room in the house ....

KIMMIE!!! Thank you so much for participating in this week's "flirt"! I really love your use of stitches and I am thrilled to tell you that you are the first submission that we have gotten from someone who is not a friend or family member! Woohoo! Thanks so much for putting my name out there and for helping us grow... I appreciate your work and your support!

Kimmie, what a queen of recycling you are!!! Love the stitching on the labels. Who could've dreamed one could get gorgeous art from beer bottles?

Kimmie! Just a post from Rose... another talented lady! Thanks for sending her my way! I do have a question for you... can you tell me how your got your link in the comments to be a "live" link! I have had to go in and put everyone's links into the actual post and make then live. They don't seem to just go into the comments as a live link. Would love to be able to tell my followers how to do this! Please advise if you can! Thanks again...
