Laddie Charm
Lassie Charm
The Awfully Big Art Adventure theme this week is "absolutely charming." I love to use cast-off keys for charms and dangly bits. For these: I first stained the metal with alcohol inks, then adhered vintage german collage elements, spruced them up with a little extra vintage glitter, then used twisted and twirled up wire with beads to make them into dangly things. I have a window that has odd things hanging to catch the light - I think I'll hang them there.

Oh wow Kimmie, these are fabulous! I'd never have thought of using keys like this. Love the way you've coloured them - thanks for joining in our challenge!

PS What gauge/weight of wire do you use?
It's pretty thin - I'm not sure of the gauge. It was actually an already coiled piece of wire from a bead shop - I just stretched it out and added some fresh twists after threading beads on it.
p.s. don't tell, but your challenge is just about my fav!
I love this idea Kimmie - you clever girl! Now I want to go searching for old keys!
Great work - so glad you joined in with us.

Kim these are just too cool for words! SO original!
I am so honored to have such comments! There is something essential about a key .... and it doesn't HAVE to be an antique one! I hope I've inspired yet another item to save and not send to the landfill ;)
