ok, I'm not wild about it

(shrubs, that is)

last week I made the recipe (see this post)
and this week the concoction was ready to taste
of the three that I made,
I like the cherry/blueberry one the best
and actually,
today it tastes a little better because I ran out of sparkling water and ended up using ginger ale instead
it must be my sweet tooth
it gets in the way of a more discriminating palate

if you tried making shrubs, I would love to hear about it
I'd love to hear about anything you might be having

it's tea on Tuesday

if you have a tea post on your blog, just mention it when you leave a comment
we'll pop by to say hello!

  2. And here I was all ready to try a shrub. Guess I won't bother. I'm sort of a sweet tooth gal, too. But blueberry/cinnamon basil still sounds like a good combination.

I'm off to my basement to work on my studio today.

  4. Hi Kimmie, hope you are well. Sorry to hear the shrubs didn't turn out quite as you had hoped. They sure sounded good. Your potato post was a bittersweet reminder that even today there are many who don't have enough to eat. Have a good day. Tammy

  11. Hmmmm . . . . I'd never heard of drinking "shrubs" before! The only shrubs that I'm aware of are the azelea, boxwood, rhododendron type of thing. I did go back to read the recipe, and I don't think I'd have a go unless I added 7UP or ginger ale. Hmmmm . . . . might be interesting to try with upcoming family celebrations! Hugs, Terri xoxo

PS Kimmie, this beverage doesn't contain alcohol, yet your pictures were intoxicating!!! :)

  12. I passed the idea of shrubs to a friend who runs a Bed and Breakfast. I am hoping he will make some for us to taste! Yes, I am lazy! I have that same sweet tooth, by the way.

  14. I do like the shrub I made (raspberry/blueberry)...enough so I've got one more in the works (raspberry/strawberry/blueberry) and the stuff for a third (cherry/vanilla). I have to make a run to the whole food store for vinegar before I start the next one. I've been using apple cider vinegar for years for all sorts of medicinal reasons so the vinegar taste doesn't offend me, and the drinks I've made with the shrubs poured over ice have been very refreshing in this oppressive summer heat. No one has been willing to try it...which is not all bad...actually good for me. :) I really appreciate you sharing the link and the recipe. Yours sure is a beautiful color...the idea of rosemary in a shrub did not appeal to me so I stayed with fruit shrubs.
