primitive garden markers you can make yourself
this first one uses a can lidI've punched holes in the metal and bent the edge with pliersthe label is stamped paper that I mod-podged to the lidit's waterproof, but not rust proofthe stake is heavy gauge aluminum wire from the hardware store
this next one is a seed packet that I dipped in beeswax(to waterproof the paper)and then it's staked in place with an old fork

We actually have two balconies here. The one off my bedroom is where all the plants died. The second one has mostly succulents which fared well. The moss roses haven't bloomed in a while so I was surprised to see that one tiny flower yesterday.

I love your garden art. Using and repurposing things are a great idea. I used to take small log slices and burned the names into them, drilled holes so I could tie them to stakes made from bamboo I had left over. I used jute or garden twine, to tie the log slice labels to the bamboo stakes. Then I bought some metal ones from Burpee. I like the home made ones better. This time of the year my garden is done and the little birds are taking dust baths in it.
These are so, so gorgeous, inventive and rustic. You are so good at coming up with great ideas and following them through.I love the rust on the parsley marker. I don't think I am good with 'hard' things i.e. metal...I have gotten too comfy in my paper/ fibre nest, but I absolutely love what you do. xx

So that's where all the silverware disappears to! I've lost so many utinsels through the years. Great ideas, I too love the can lids - they look so rustic and fit the garden perfectly.

I'm really impressed with these garden markers. I may just have to make a few of the rusty lidded ones. My garden is pretty sparse this year, even the herbs seem doomed. But I really love the ide of making a few of these to have for next year.
your garden must be such a magical place...Love your markers and your Christmas babbles hanging in the tree VERY much...those will look pretty in the snow too...oh who said that!

Love the lid! I use old forks to hold the seed packs- never thought of beeswax!!! Will have to try that!!
