DIY room fragrance
one of my favorite things about summer is being able to open up the windowsfresh air is the number one cure for house-atosisbut this little recipe runs a close second:)
you will need: rubbing alcohol, essential oil, and a small spray bottle or misterI like to use lemon and lavender - about ten drops each - in this 1 oz. mister
this glass mister is actually from an old sample of l'occitane perfume
(just a word of caution, do not use this on your skin ... it gave me a rash when I did)

Sounds heavenly... and Yankee Candles has a lavender/lemon scented candle out now too!
I just uncovered my essential oils last night. How fortunate for me. I may have to try this DIY project.
We are only able to open doors and windows in the winter time which might be around December. :/ I'm not even sure we can buy rubbing alcohol here. But if I can find it, will definitely give this a try. Have a great day. Tammy
What wonderful aromatherapy! I use my essential not only for my soap making but for many things around the house, yard and pets. I can smell it now! Lemon and lavender one are my favorite mixes. To try new scents I will dip a Q tip in one EO and the other end in another EO, put it in a zip lock overnight and then see if I like the combo.
Hi Kimmie, We learned to make these in my herbal training. Use vodka instead of the rubbing alcohol mixed with distiller water. About 1/3 bottle vodka then water and your essential oil. No rashes! xox Corrine
Sounds great -- I'm going to try it!
Sounds fantastic. With our humidity our house definitely gets that older house smell that drives me crazy.
Definitely want to try this trick.
I'm on this!
Mmmmmm . . . . just the thought of those luscious scents makes me feel serene and happy! Thanks for the recipe, Kimmie! I'll have to give it a whirl!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo
Hi Kimmie, got your message. Go here http://inkspillersattic.blogspot.com/search/label/soap%20making to see 4 posts on my soap making. Some of the posts have a few other things in them too. Some are of the soap making classes I gave awhile back. I used to be in business with Annie's Soap Barn about 12 years ago when I first retired. It has been fun making soap. That's all we use now. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Yes Kimmie, lye can be hard to find. I usesd to buy it online with all my other ingredients when I made more for the business. Lye is actually drain opener and I have found it at hardware and tractor supply stores here. It must be 100% lye so be sure and read the ingredients. People are always afraid of lye at first, but just keep vinegar handy in case it splashes. Ventilation is important also. I never have had any problems but unless you have lye and oil you don't have 'real' soap. The melt and pour glycerin is just not the same.
Love this! Going to give it a try!

sounds yummy - I'm not crazy about lavender but I do love lemon and that sounds like it would be good together.
Great photo effects, the second one :)
I'll give this a try, seeing as I have some Lavender oil and thanks to stamping--a mister.
Thanks Kimmie :)
Love aura cacia - I use their sleep potion spray - now I will have to make my own!!!!
You have such cool ideas.
