you may remember an earlier post "photo transfer - 3 ways"
(I had featured this same photograph of my dad and his younger brothers)
for this quilted piece, I used fabric transfer paper
(made by Avery and found in the printer paper department)
I used tea bag paper alternating with old music sheets as a border
the colored fabrics are my own hand dyed muslin
and, using my new typewriter, I made a miniature banner
it says:
brothers in arms
(I thought it was funny the way the brothers aren't holding hands, they're holding arms)
beautiful colors and patterns. love the prayer flag. and that typewriter is coming into good use!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! What a wonderful way to display a family photo.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous piece of art that warms the heart!
ReplyDeleteOh, that is so cute how they are holding his arms. Maybe he had something yucky on his hands. :) Did you piece this all by hand? I love the simple stitches and the lovely frayed fabrics. What a fabulous use of all those teabags. Beautiful work! Blessings, Tammy
ReplyDeleteI love how you put this all together. I like that the three are standing in front of an old hay wagon!
ReplyDeleteI have been dying some vintage muslin square with different teas- rooisbos makes a reddish, yerba mate makes a pale sagey green, and black tea makes an aged brown.
That is just lovely Kimmie. I have been trying to post on your blog for awhile and it always kicks me out for some weird reason. I will be getting back into my 'normal' soon and joining everyone for tea day again. Have missed it.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Kimmy!

ReplyDeleteOhhh, Kimmie! I just ADORE this piece!!! Every little detail about it is beyond fabulous!!! Hugs, Terri xooxox

ReplyDeleteYour art is so intriguing to me, Kim -- I am fascinated by how you work --
simply gorgeous quilt!! and lovely watercolors too...
ReplyDeleteI really love the hand dyed muslin, do you have a blog for your process? Also, I don't drink tea that often. Should I then be a Java Mama?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of Mamas, yes, your Mom is a great neighbor! Glad to be in the neighborhood!
