beach combing

we had a beautiful day on saturday
it was a perfect day for a trip to the seashore

the water is extremely cold
and the air was cool
but the sun was
oh so warm

and there were
rocks rocks rocks
everywhere

we brought a few of them home

they're nested in my printer's tray

a lasting memento of a perfect day

I just love this photo, well all of them but especially the last one. I have a small pile of rocks on my dresser I've been wanting to photograph but they came from my gravel lane in Nebraska and now I'm not sure I want to. :( But, hey you take what you have :) I just love that they are sorted by color. I've done that too in a jar in the laundry room. I sat and sorted the darkest ones out of our lane one day a couple of years ago with my kids.

What a beautiful story these photos and your words tell. If only every day could be so pure, serene and simple. I love the beauty of your rocks, the variations in tones, shades and shapes, and they look perfectly at home in your printers tray. xx

This is beautiful! I love seeing photos of your sunshine & the beach. The rocks are lovely, especially love the natural way you have them styled. Will you be painting some?

Awesome way to display your finds, Kimmie! My kids gave me an old printer's tray as a birthday gift, and I've been wondering how to use it. I've just been inspired!!!! Hope you have an awesome weekend! Hugs, Terri xoxo

I seem to remember reading somewhere that women all over the world collect stones. Is it because it's part of mother earth and we relate to that? Love the attitude of the girls!
