I rescued these security envelopes
(a last vestige of 2010 tax season)
they struck me as something kind of pretty
reheating some tea from this morning's pot
and wondering what I could make with these

ReplyDeleteI love the inside patterns of envelopes---I have almost 100 different patterns and colours--purple-black-teal-3 shades of blue-orange-brown-yellow-green and bright pink.I use them for backgrounds on cards and collage them to make book covers but mostly I just love looking at them.

Mr. Linky is on best behaviour today, just as well ! Yes, those envelopes, pretty, and for some reason make me think Japanese, maybe it's their delicate simplicity. I hope your second pot is as good as your first and full marks for recycling......envelopes and tea.

I always micrwave cold tea.......what is the mic for otherwise??? I use the inside of cards for my cards and other paper projects. Have fun and can't wait to see what you create.

ReplyDeleteAs for the microwave, I do that with coffee a LOT, but I don't get enough tea (except on Tuesday) to enjoy anything but fresh. I can't believe that Patty doesn't own one.
I use security envelopes in a great many backgrounds, as well as in my art journals. They are really a lot of fun, and can even be colored with watercolors and watered down fluid acrylics. I know you will have fun with yours.

I dont have a microwave, but I reheat old tea in a little pan on the stovetop. interesting patterns and more varied than i've seen.

ReplyDeleteI love to drink my tea in a good solid mug so it stays hot to the last drop. On that note, maybe a wrap for my cup would be good. I have one of those little hot plates for cups--not that it stays HOT, the way I like it :)
Mary Ann Moss used security envelopes in her remains of the day journal class I took, so I have a stack of them too. So many of the ones that come through our house have the name of the institution as the pattern and franky that doesn't do it for me and those I recycle. I really like your photos of the envelopes! ReplyDeleteI'm not one to judge... but DON'T EVER microwave your water to MAKE tea. Blaccch! Don't know why I consider reheating okay, but there we are.
I have never really looked inside those envelopes so haven't realised the amazing patterns that are available... they do look lovely piled up like that and I am sure you will make something amazing with them!!

I think they are pretty too! And as far as nuking tea from the morning... I do it too... Sometimes it's the only way I actually get an entire cup down... to keep heating it up... Glad to be back to Tuesday Tea!
