reflecting

I am finding it hard to say goodbye to the lacy trees of winter time
I notice them in glances
and reflections
and quick passing by
I want to savor and gaze upon their still bare branches
... they will be in full leafy regalia within weeks
their winter silhouette hidden in green

I am savoring the murky gray sky of our wintry April
noticing the way it reigns in the garish colors of spring
there is a party atmosphere that comes with a too sunny spring
like a woman in high heels
perfume
dangly earrings
who, only an hour ago was in her jeans and finishing up with the wash

I guess I'm more comfortable in jeans
but I admit
I'm also looking forward to wearing sandals
... and not wellies

just a thought with my tea today

what are you thinking about?

I was up, so thought I would post. Now I need to put all the tea away, except for what I'll be drinking.

I'm actually looking forward to the new growth of spring, and although I'm not much for jeans, I love shorts starting in spring and continuing until the first snow flies.

I really love the cups you have in your post today. They are beautiful, and rather abstract.

Now I'm off to bed.

Love your description of winter turning to spring :- of sparse austerity going silly and becoming garish, frivolous, and flashy. Isn't this what makes our lives so interesting: the mish mash of extremes that we can adapt to and relish as the mood takes us..........love life.

Wonderful photos and reflections both literal and figurative.
I am think how much I love that garish woman in her high heels and all that perfume! give me all of your bright cleat sunny spring days and I will dance her silly till she passes out and has to cough up some hot summer nights to rest her tired feet upon.
Happy T on T
Peace~

Lovely words for a lovely tea post. The reflection in the tea is wonderful. I'm thinking of the sounds of the birds outside my window right now. It is just getting day light and I'll be off on my walk soon. Enjoying the warm weather we are having. It's going to be a beautiful day!

I am so ready for the surge of new growth... winter has been hard with the starkness of the white and the bareness of the trees but I love the reflection of the tree in your tea, it is fabulous!!

We had a week of gray days because of dust so when the sun decided to shine a bit today it was hot, hot, hot. Enjoy the cooler weather as it hangs on a bit longer. Hope you are having a good day. Tammy

Really lovely post Kimmie, your visual prose was spectacular and I loved the image of the dressed up fancy who just finished her wash.

dang! i knew i was forgetting something...t on tues! silly me..i know what you mean though...i have a love affair going on with my queen crabapple...and i especially love her in the winter because you can see all the gnarly bark and of course, because the birds love her...and she is the perfect example of fleeting beauty...it is the gnarly bark and sustenance that remains..xo

I love each season... but there really is something about the change, the transition, so much anticipation, melancholy, wait,
bittersweet I guess in some ways..
