I'm revisiting this heartache
maybe it's because The Thing will be permanently capped tomorrow
now THAT makes me happy
I've used iron on transfer stuff
and have muslin squares ready to piece together into a quilt (like the Gulf?)
the muslin pieces that go in between it all (like booms?)
will be tea stained (like oil?)
and I am inspired by many other fiber artists out there in blogland (like kindred hearts?)
with their magnificent threads and stitches (like the essentials of life?)
I am so excited about this project
this is what I love about creating
... when something just feels right ...
What a wonderful idea. I can't wait to see the finished art.
ReplyDeleteI meant to answer your question about the new school in LA. It is six or so schools all under one roof -- K-12 -- and does seem fantastic. But when you see it, think Taj Mahal LAUSD.
ReplyDeleteIt's gonna be lovely...

It feels just right because of the inspiration and love in your loving heart, Kimmie. Just seeing the pieces made my heart sing. I can't begin to imagine how wonderful this quilt will be when it's finished. Hugs, Terri xoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe of this project. I know it will be stunning when finished.
ReplyDeletekimmie ..yes this is just the way to wrap up what has turned into a heartfelt quilt of this horrible tragedy..keep those lovely photos coming!!
ReplyDeleteyour blog is so fabulous!! i want to pull out everything i own that could possibly be used for an art project. thank you!! love to learn new things.
ReplyDeleteTell me how you went about doing the transfers, Kimmie. I am intrigued. They turned out just as bright and clear as the originals it seems to me. Did you do it on the computer? On a scanner, a printer? Great job and I love how it all means something. I think that we, as artists, never do anything that is just "stuff". Everything has a meaning. Everything. Love that kindred spirit, hearts thread going through your work.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be beyond gorgeous!! At first I thought you were making a cloth book- but love it as a quilt. You got me wanting to play with transfers again!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis will be one stunning piece once you're done with it Kimmie! I sure hope you will send it to Somerset, because I know it not only deserves to be published...but it will be!
