this story needs words
I've taken the words from each blog post
they were pretty good
and
"in the moment"
I drew a zentangle all around them
it looks a little bit like a coral reef
or a tide pool
I was freaking out at the beginning
I thought I was ruining the simplicity of it
... but, the key is to just keep going ...
it (the art) has to grow
the cover of my sketchbook has this reminder:
"do not fear mistakes,
there are none."
-miles davis
personally, the only thing I think this applies to
... is art ...
and coming from Miles Davis
I think that's what he was talking about.
this whole disaster could be qualified as a series of mistakes
very very bad mistakes.
intentional?
maybe.
something to fear?
maybe.
"I have learned over the years
that when one's mind is made up,
this diminishes fear;
knowing what must be done
does away with fear."
-rosa parks
what must be done?
(so a disaster like this one doesn't happen again)
I think we know the answer(s) to that.

Greetings KIm,
Your art is beautiful and filled with feelings. Your words give us something to ponder on.
I do not think we will ever know if it was an accident or an accident based upon poor judgment. Let us look beyond the blame game and pull together and make a real change.
Government regulations is in part that change, though it will never be a real fix because of loop holes and those who are to watch out have their heads turned the other way.
What is real change is focusing on renewable energy and getting off our dependency on oil. It is an uphill battle against corporations who would like to continue the status quo, but we as consumers must take the first step in using less oil and products made with oil and begin using renewable and green energy.
Wishing you all the very best,
Egmont
Sand dollars and shells and mermaids tails
Is what I see in your coral reef
Spirals of life, serpents of wisdom
Nothing to do with grief
For....
Here in your journal, Life renews
Life forgives, Life continues
Through your art and words
We see Life in new venues.
I really, really, really hope you make a book of this, Kimmie!
I agree with you Egmont
I'm hoping to some day change out the engine in my very basic car and replace it with an electric engine.
Electricity up here is mostly hydro-electric ... dams in the rivers pose another problem ... but I think we're on our way to unraveling this mess ... starting with personal lifestyle changes.
And thank you Delphyne, your comment is very poetic :)
I have been looking into how to make this into a book, but am very daunted by it right now.
sobering post --
I read an article in our newspaper today about how much more of a problem air pollution is than even the Gulf disaster. That the problem is ongoing and extremely dangerous -- I'm thinking about posting something about it -- about fear and fearing the wrong things, about priorities, etc.
Thanks for more inspiration, Kim!
Kimmie, I'm blown away with your zentangled introduction to this fabulous piece of art from your heart. The key to it all is "caring" - about who we are, the environment, our fellow man, about the resources we use and how we use them. So much to learn . . . so much to do. Hugs, Terri xoxo
Beautiful work! I feel that the zentangle represents just how complex the answer can be to the problem. It shows us the beauty of our world but still there are cracks that need to be fixed.
This is great, but most of all i love inchies !!!
I love the zentangles......what a tangled world we live in. thanks for all the great artwork.
hardly seems possible that your creation keeps getting more beautiful and meaningful Kimmie!
Fantastic on every level!

Beyond words!!!!I definitely will buy a copy!!! Signed, of course!!! Try self publishing companies - maybe that would be easier to start?
Check out my post on the sketchbook project- when you are done with this book - you should try this!!!!
You are so brave. I made one zentangle and that was enough for me. I'm glad you kept going, though. This whole project is lovely and I think you should get these published.
Oh Kimmie - wonderful post. Love the spread out zentangles! And, of course, the inchie zentangles.
one step at a time, we begin (continue?) the journey.
Your journal just keeps getting better and better... Love the zentangle and the way you incorporated the words... So true and timely...
Love this. This whole post and everything in it is fantastic.
Wonderful, wonderful.
Personally, I think we, all of us, are the biggest cause of the oil spill disaster. We crave and demand more than the earth can safely give. Until we change our ways, this sort of thing will happen and happen more frequently.
I'm trying!
Best,
Bonnie

Your doodling really draws the eyes in to your work......amazing art Kimmie!
I was intrigued by the word 'intentional' in your post. My son has been doing a lot of research into this issue and I have been horrified and shocked by some of the things he's told us....... :-(
ooo kimmie - such an incredible work of art you've created with your book...amazing...i'm so glad you took a risk here, it works so well with your illustrations...a treasure, indeed
Love the zentangle you created in this piece. Love those little squares too. Very cool.
