I found some great black coated sheet metal and used it to make a frame for this piece I had done earlier in the spring.
I used an embossing stylus to get the detail in the metal, then sanded it with sandpaper, then rubbed in a yellow paint which I lightly buffed.
(I'll be putting it in my etsy shop too)
Kimmie, this is so effective! I shall have to dfind out more about embossing. Does the metal have to be very thin? How intriguing!
ReplyDeleteFabulous texture! This frame really makes your art "sing"!
ReplyDeleteI believe it's a 40 gauge metal.
ReplyDeleteI found it in the bargain bin at the craft store. I think it was on sale because of the color (black)
I am also quite fond of using aluminum tins that store bought pies and/or pie crusts come in. It works just as well although it is a little bit thicker.
Also, knitting needles are fabulous as an embossing tool if you don't have a specially made stylus.
Great colour on this, I love the outcome of embossing! Your photo turned out wonderful with the beeswax.
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful!! I may have to get out my copper and see what I can create - yours is inspiring!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your lunch bags in the Etsy store!!! I am making one today - got rained out of the farmers market, so I get to play!!!
i like the photo you paired with it and the yellow in both ties it all together ...such a superstar...that is you!
ReplyDeleteFantastic metal frame for your really special picture creation Kimmie! I am ready for tea tomorrow :)
