Stripes and Dots

This is an old board from my "old board collection." I like to chip away the old paint and sand what's left. I scattered dots all over the bare wood parts that were left after chipping and sanding. My husband thinks it looks like aboriginal art :) ....... Actually it's just a base for something more. In fact, I think I'll use Mixed Media Monday prompts (this week is polka dots and/or stripes) to add new layers to this work in progress.  Next week's prompt is "Easter stuff" like rabbits, eggs, etc. Hmmmm the challenge is on.....

Kimmie - this is gorgeous in it's own right (and yes it does look a bit like an Aboriginal dot painting). I can't wait to follow this piece and see how it developes. Diane

That is beautiful - I often pick up interesting boards from the farm and wonder what can I do with this!!! Are the dots just paint?

The dots are just paint. I used a largish round brush and holding it straight upright, just let the paint drip out a dot - large or small depending on how much was on the brush. It's a little tedious - but if you get into a rhythm and have no one bugging you - it's really quiet zen and meditative :)
