in my spare time

 hah!
is there such a thing?
in my not so spare time
I've been
.... making matchboxes

the idea is to see how much treasure can fit in a little matchbox
it's fun!
(here's a fun flickr photo pool: matchbox stuffing)

these 3 matchbox treasures have been added to my etsy shop
3 more are on my desk

***

do you do the oscars?
our family fills out ballots
the middle brainy child decided spend a week memorizing the picks as previewed on indiewire.com
talk about spare time
this is NOT how I would spend it
but if you're 13 - that's another story
(she got 16 right - me? I got 11 - pretty good for guessing eh?)

here's her list:

  2. I can not believe you get all of that into a tiny little matchbox! that is amazing. May have to try my hand at it sometime.
I haven't watched the oscars in years! I never seem to agree with what they choose and it frustrates me, not to mention it seem such a waste of resources (that is my cynical side showing, sorry--I waste plenty of resources all of the time so I shouldn't point fingers, I guess). Your daughter seems to have hit upon the winning strategy. Do you give out "oscars" for the most correct picks?

  6. The girls' Nana organizes the whole Oscar ballot thing and the prize is movie tickets! Whoo whoo! Those are high stakes, so needless to say, we try REALLY hard to win .... The only movies I saw were "Skyfall" (2 stars from me) and "Beasts of the Southern Wild" which I LOVED ... 4 stars!

  7. I always love your match boxes. They are always fun.

Sorry I haven't been around for so long. In case you didn't know, I haven't been able to access my blog for nearly a month. My neighbor let me post from her computer because I could see my blog fine at her place. Not sure why it happened, but I'm just glad to be back online.

I've been reviewing a few of the posts I've missed. I love the vintage linens with photos and seeds. They really spoke to me. And talk about transforming a lowly pie tin! That one took the cake (or pie!).

  8. Oh I love your little matchboxes. Love the idea that they are tiny with tiny treasures in them. I guess the possibilities of 'things ' that can go inside are limited only to your imagination. We don't do the Oscars over here. It really only rates a mention if an Australian actor or film is nominated for one. What you do sounds like fun tho. I think I could get into that, maybe dress up and bring out a small piece of 'red carpet' to stand on. xx

  17. I do love your matchboxes. We used to play a similar game as children but these are much more sophisticated than our efforts back then. I am very tempted to have a go!

  18. The matchboxes hold more than I ever thought. Amazing little treasures.
Oscars? Nope don't watch it. I usually like some movie the best that wasn't even nominated anyway. LOL Did see Beasts and loved it. Very well made.
