I had a turtle neck sweater that was too itchy on my neck
so I cut off the ends of the sleeves and made these fingerless gloves
I snipped a hole in the side seam where my thumb could go
... then I blanket stitched around the hole and added a little stitched flower
I folded up the cut edge and hemmed it with embroidery floss
now I'm scavenging my closet for more itchy sweaters that I don't really like
:)
I LOVE fingerless gloves Kimmie! I have two pair, one that a friend knitted for me. Since I don't know how to knit, your idea is perfect for me! Love how yours turned out. Thanks for sharing your idea!
ReplyDeleteI've never had a pair but thought they would be fun. You really did a neat job with these! I just love them!
ReplyDeleteHow perfect! I'm definitely going to do that too!
ReplyDeleteLove them Kimmie!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you think and the daisies are just perfect too!
oxo
p.s. I used have fingerless gloves back in my craft show days...they were kinda fun too
Wonderful! My daughter is asking for some of these for Christmas/Birthday. Never thought if blanket stitching. DUH! Love the added little flower.
ReplyDeleteGreat re-cycling idea:)
ReplyDeleteyou are always so creative!
ReplyDeleteWow, those are exactly what I need to go photograph in winter... I hope you do have more itchy sweaters. ;o))
ReplyDeleteThe gloves look wonderful!
You are so incredibly creative! Your brain must always be going....(to our utterly delight and advantage!)
ReplyDeleteI am definitely making me some!
I love these! But with arthritis in my fingers I like them when they have a bit of thumb coverage. I have a pair that I got from target a few years ago that have a thumb. These are lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove your creativity, just great, congrats !!
ReplyDeletenot a bad idea to find more turtlenecks, Kimmie...these are simply AWESOME!!! you clever you....have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteso clever. i like the way the stitches are in a contrasting color. it sounds much easier than what i'm trying to do which is knit some fingerless gloves. you would think it would be easy but remember i am fumble fingers and a new knitter. We shall see.
ReplyDeleteThese are perfect!! Way to re-use!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great, creative idea - I LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea, they look beautiful. I could use a pair about now, lol x
ReplyDeleteso clever and cute!!
ReplyDeletelove your idea.
ReplyDeleteFabulous ! I can't do itchy either. I brought home a brand new (expensive) dress from the charity shop where I work to try on ... I knew it would be "Itchy" Not only that... it picked up every bit of dust & dog hair around ... no wonder it was donated .. I retrned it !
ReplyDeleteThese are really gorgeous Kimmie...great job! You have so many talents!
ReplyDeleteThey are really cute, Kimmie ! Some of the cutest ones I have seen ! Goodwill stores is a great place to check for sweaters to repurpose. 'Cause you know you gotta make many more now ! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday !
Great idea! Those turned out beautifully!
ReplyDeleteThese are truly adorable. I've never had fingerless gloves, and these are perfect. Too bad you can only get two out of each sweater.
ReplyDeleteBRILLIANT! and adorable!
ReplyDeleteOMG, what an AWEsome idea, Kimmie!!! Believe it or not, I've tried to knit some fingerless gloves for my grand daughters. BIG mistake!!! Nothing but problems with two patterns. Looks like a trip to the thrift store is in order . . . . I can sew better than I can knit!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!! Peace, Mary Helen
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! I've been wanting a pair of fingerless gloves but didn't think my knitting skills were up to the task. This is the perfect solution -- and a great way to upcycle an unloved sweather too! Thanks for the inspiration, Kimmie!
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea! well done!
ReplyDeleteLoving the gloves! I have been thinking about doing this with some alpaca socks that have holes in them. No reason to throw out the rest of the sock!!!
