Oh Kimmie! It's so beautiful up there... I spent a summer in Washington 30 years ago. I took a bus from Tampa, FL to Seattle and back... did some hiking in the Cascades (including to the bottom on Snoqualmie Falls) and spent some time in Seattle... It was glorious!
I remember driving...well, riding along the Cascade Hwy as a kid. My mom worrying about us running out of gas...dad telling her to stop worrying. Standing in the snow on flip flops. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Great little trip! Your pics are beautiful - I've been barefoot in the snow too many times, and not by choice!!! When you just slip something on to run to the mailbox or get the dog from the yard and then lose a slipper or shoe, it gets mighty cold!
They showed images of people skiing on the 4th up at Squaw Valley. I found it amazing that there was so much snow there still. We had one "over the top" winter didn't we! It seems that things are changing...climate change that is. I miss the beautiful blues of your area lakes. Banff was my first introduction to that color blue when we first visited Canada. Wonderful. Sorry about the clouds but I'd trade you for a few days.
Wow!!! That third photo would make a wonderful painting or picture postcard!!! I have a pic of my daughter's bare footprint in the snow - gotta do it at least once in your life!!!LOL
this
ReplyDeleteis like walking on water, or clouds...giant cotton bolls,
like looking down from heaven at the divinity of womankind.
such a simple act of brazen love
for life, earth, for each season and your tender willingness to embrace it all.
stunning in its bare simplicity.
