I've been keeping up my journal pretty consistently
... which is unusual for me.
I have loads of started journals
and not one single completed one.
I think I'm on a roll with a method that works for me.
Basically it goes like this
(and this technique I learned from Willowing and Friends "Art, Heart and Healing"):
- write a two page spread in pencil - thoughts that need to get out
- on a separate piece of paper record the gist of what you wrote
- gesso over the pencil, lightly or heavily, depending on how revealing you want to be
- collage, doodle, paint, etc. over the gessoed part
- write in the bit you wrote that was a summation of those original thoughts
Because of the personal thoughts included in my journal
(which is as it should be)
I'm only showing you bits and pieces of it.
I hope to inspire you to have a place you can write down your hopes and dreams and fears and worries.
There is something good about putting those thoughts to paper
finding the beauty in them
and then keeping them secret.
oh my, you are so creative! beautiful.

ReplyDeleteLove the effects you have shown here. I like the idea of putting gesso over and then writing on top of it the summary.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you've taken Willow's idea and have adapted it to make it totally your own! Fabulous journal! Hugs, Terri xoxo

ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been around for T Tuesday in a while - may be back soon....all my kids want is hot chocoate at the moment when they come in from the snow !
wonderful journal pages and thanks for listing the technique which i like very much. I think this is a moleskin journal but is it one with watercolor weight pages?? my moleskin pages are so thin, I am not sure they could handle the number of layers you have shown though i must say i love these layers.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting technique, and your pages look beautiful! I'll be giving this a try :)
ReplyDeleteLove this idea. I'm always wanting to write stuff down to get it out but then worry that the kids might pick it up to read... Just cuz kids are nosy like that...well at least I was as a kid.
