I don't know if you've ever tried this ...
I love teabags because they're so easy ...
and I get little tea bag thingies so I can make my own.
The tea bag thingies are called "t-sac's" and you can find them HERE
(loose tea: exotic fruit sencha tea)

My lovely oldest child made these cupcakes yesterday.
They're so easy to make, even a 12 year old can do it :)
Here's the recipe:
1 yellow cake mix (you can use gluten free if you want)
1 small box instant vanilla pudding
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 T. poppy seeds
3/4 c. oil
3/4 c. tawny port or sherry
4 eggs
Mix all ingredients together and pour into a well greased bundt pan
(or cupcake tin).
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes
(25 minutes for cupcakes).
Dust with powdered sugar when cool.
It's a recipe from Sweet Husband's bachelor days.
I guess you could say it's also so easy, even a Sweet Husband could make it.

These are some of Sweet Husband's roses ...
I know you'll get a kick out of the names :)

Thank you, thank you for sharing the roses today, Kimmie! They're fabulous and oh, so beautiful! **sigh** Each is prettier than the one before. I am pea green with envy, as every rose I've tried to grow in this yard has failed miserably. (I even tried growing them in pots!)
ReplyDeleteThank you, too, for the cake recipe. Sounds de-lish! Hugs, Terri xoxo
I must find some of those t-sacs. I much prefer loose leaf tea, so these will be perfect.
ReplyDeleteYour roses are divine and simply amazing. None of mine have bloomed this year.
Your cupcake looks a lot more edible than mine, but I wouldn't trade mine for anything. Great looking recipe and result, though.
Ohhh these roses are soooo beautiful, Kimmie!!! Thank you for the recipe and I'm sure the tea was wonderful...most importantly take that time to "smell the roses"....hugs steph

Lovely roses, my dear Kimmie.Your husband is a patient and talented man and you are indeed blessed with such beautiful flowers and perhaps fragrance too. We miss you in Meerkatland :)
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful roses! I have made a very similar recipe except I used apricot nectar instead of sherry. I will have to try it with the sherry next time. Thanks for sharing the recipe!

I've used the fill your own tea bags before but will have to try the tea sacs. The flowers look so beautiful! The recipe is one I will surely try. Thanks for a great post.
ReplyDeleteA day for exotic tea :) I love your roses, so beautiful and a very yummy looking cupcake, how lucky :)
ReplyDeleteSherry in a cupcake? Sounds like my idea of afternoon tea!
ReplyDeleteI'm so envious of your beautiful roses Kimmie...ours have not done well this year. Despite all our efforts they are being eaten by ants - even before the buds have a chance to open. Luckily the ants are only obsessed with roses and the rest of my garden is fine....
BTW ....love the tea bag idea!
Linda x
