I gave it a go yesterday and this is what I ended up with.
I ended up doing it in 3 coats with 3 different colors.
I gradually realized that the trick is to
let the paint dry Absolutely Completely Thoroughly Totally DRY.
Have you ever waited for paint to dry?
This requires either a lot of patience -
or a lot of little things to do in between coats of paint.

ReplyDeleteMmmmmm, yours are fantastic, love the colouring and effect. Mine don't look anything like yours (I used old gloopy crackle paint which didn't so much peel as flake off). Back to the drawing board I think! Looking forward to seeing what you do with your backgrounds.

ReplyDeleteI swear I have NEVER had the good luck you had, even though I let the paint dry overnight. I'm going to have to give it another try, but I don't seem to get the vaseline on correctly, or something. Very nice outcome on your part.
ReplyDeleteWow... These turned out great! I've done this technique... it's fun, but yes you do have to wait for the paint to dry completely...

ReplyDeleteI try to use a blow dryer whenever I paint. The waiting time is agonizing. I wonder what you will do with these lovely pages.

ReplyDeletemine well ... a disaster i was very good and waited for the first coat to dry created ATC's in between then put second vaseline on then coated 2nd paint and at that stage remembered i didnt remove the first lot of vaseline...lol
so must try again.
