I packaged up something for the mail today and took pictures along the way
I gift wrap everything that I send out
but it's not the typical sort of gift wrap you might expect
I try to be as green as possible
(unfortunately I still need to use bubble wrap and tape in the final package)
today I'm wrapping these matchboxes (as seen above)
I've stitched a little pouch of several thicknesses of magazine paper
some from an old canadian readers digest (1967) and some from a rose catalog
I stitched all the way around and tore away the excess paper to show the layers (see below)
tied it with a raffia bow, added a little note and my card - and it's ready to go
and these little bags below are made from storybook pages and wax paper
the ribbon at the top is from silk saris
the sari fabric has been recycled by tearing it into strips of ribbon
I bought mine on Etsy from Felicia and her shop: Flea's Fibers
thanks, as always, for stopping by!
I have lots of catching up to do
I was down for the count this past week with a doozy of a head cold
but I am feeling much better now!

What a clever idea, I might have to borrow it, thank you for sharing!!!
Super cute ideas! Lots of love go into those packages.
happy to hear you are not feeling poorly any more Kimmie!
I am a big fan of pretty packaging and yours is extra thoughtful and lovely
bubble wrap is a great thing to recycle ... hopefully the lucky recipient of your matchboxes will do that with the wrap
Happy March !

What a clever, clever idea. I love the packaging. I am reading a book now that shows painter's paper as a gift wrap. I've never heard of it, but I'm like you. I prefer to use what I already have, and that includes lots of old books. Really great idea with the wax paper. Never would have thought of that.
Glad to read you are feeling better. It's hard when illness gets you down.
So pretty and so personal. Your packaging is as gorgeous as your beautiful hand made art. I love receiving things that have been thoughtfully and creatively packaged. Glad you're feeling better too :)) xx
As the recipient of some of your wrapping, I can attest to how extraordinary it is --
And I'm glad that you're feeling better -- this has just been a rude year for viruses, no?
What attention to detail:) Lucky recipients!

I think there has been sickness throughout the whole country! We've been hit repeatedly here and now I'm looking forward to spring and less sickness! I know the recipients of those packages would be thrilled!!
Kim - what beautiful packaging for your beautiful creations!!! I love that your packaging is recycled and beautiful at the same time. Thanks for sharing.
I'm trying to catch up on reading blog posts. Wonderful packaging! I use sari yarn for so many things. I love it. I'm about out of it, so I will check out your link.

I'd buy something from you just to see the packaging! You always go above and beyond with the packaging and since I love my mailbox and what arrives in it, sometimes I order something just to treat myself to the surprise that waits inside. You put a lot of work and effort into everything you do Kimmie! Why wouldn't you NOT do this too...it's just YOU. And I love it!
So glad I didn't miss these Kimmie ....they're wonderful! I would be VERY happy to receive something like this in the post. X
This is fantastic idea. I saw this in Pinterest and really excited to follow your blog.
