this is a piece I was working on before the holidays
(you can read more about it here)
I finally completed it and put it in my Etsy shop yesterday
but the point of this post is to share something about placement and photography
(especially for showcasing a piece)
when I photographed it yesterday, I used my old painted cabinet as a backdrop
it looks good in person
but didn't photograph well for the little thumbnail sizes you get on Etsy
*
after sleeping on it
I remembered how great these linens look with light coming through them
so, today, I re-shot the piece after hanging it in a window
I think it shows more detail this way and is much more striking
in fact, I like it so much,
I may just keep this piece in the window
(until it, hopefully, sells)

Both ways are spectacular, but I do like the outdoor version with the light showing the weaving of the original piece and your stitched elements as well. xox Corrine
I love the sky as a backdrop and often hold items up in the air to shoot them. Your piece is fabulous! I hope to join in on Tea again sometime. Our kids went back to school today so there is a little more time to get on the computer, although my little one has to adjust to them being gone again too.
I just love the way you photograph everything. It's amazing the difference in where you shot these. I think I love the sky one best. The piece I'm sure looks good anywhere.
I thought it looked good displayed on the cupboard but boy oh boy does it really look magnificent with the light shining through. Beautiful piece! Hope you are having a great week. Tammy
Happy New Year to you! I absolutely love your old painted cabinet, but have to say this piece does look even more amazing with the light shining through. Details, texture...even looks great in thumbnail size.
Yes, looks wonderful in the window where all that beautiful, vintage detail is high lighted. Gorgeous piece Kimmie, I'm sure it will be snapped up very quickly. xx
It is lovely and what a find for the photo shoot! Thanks for sharing your creative ideas!
The light reveals so much.
oh wow, it looks like 2 different pieces.
WOW!!! I love them...the outdoor one is spectacular....
I love old linens hanging in windows. In this case, it shows off the patterns so much more clearly.
I love the linen in the window with the day's light coming through...delicate and yet a powerful image. Peace, Mary Helen
sweet and fun to wake up with a new vision
that piece certainly is beautifully showcased with Light streaming from behind
you do create the loveliest things dear Kimmie

I love this kimmie! It looks so pretty with the light shining through. You know I adore those tea bags too!
IT's beautiful both ways but I totally get about the etsy thumbnail. Sometimes it just doesn't work for a particular subject
It si pretty with the light shining through. I had a batik piece I made once that was so pretty hanging in the window. I gave it to my son....I wonder if he still has it.
What a huge difference it made! I love the way it looks with light coming through it!
