this one was the hardest to do so far
not because it was technically hard
- it was emotionally hard -
I felt like crying most of the time
and when I was done
I watched some lady on food network make chicken pot pies
*
I just hope the manatees survive this

she is beautiful
Yes, it's terribly sad and tragic. I have a hard time seeing the mud soaked birds on TV.
Your painting is beautiful and a wonderful tribute to these poor creatures.
a beautiful tribute.. the mistreatment of animals take on so many faces actually..hang in there.
I once saw manatees up close at a Florida aquarium. They seem to be quite docile, defenseless creatures. You've made a lovely painting. There are no more words...
Thank you so much for commenting on my work paying tribute to the Gulf region. I will continue to check back here to see what you are up to.
your love shows ...
Your watercolor works are just beautiful!
You must be so proud of this picture Kimmie....its a brilliant tribute to this peaceful animal.
This series of beautiful paintings are a real tribute to the variety and wonder of nature. I can't bear to watch those poor creatures struggling because of us. Thank you for sharing them with us, x
so very beautiful & shows your sadness in it's aura
your passion shows, kimmie, this is other worldly...so beautiful
It took me a while to respond to this heartfelt post, Kimmie, because every time I opened your page and saw your beautiful manatee, I cried. Quite simply, he's beautiful and so is your tribute. Hugs, Terri xoxo
I got all choked up when I saw the Manatee - even before I read what you wrote, I could see the tears in the painting.
It's very beautiful, Kimmie.
sad but sooo very beautiful, from such sorrow and devastation comes such beauty...
This is a stunning portrait of these gentle giants. I share your sorrow and passion for preservation my friend. This is a wonderful series giving a voice to those creatures who are rarely heard. Keep on creating!
The intensity of your emotions is making your art glow. This manatee is remarkable --
The manatee looks like it is ready to jump off the page. This has so much shading and detail it looks alive. I saw a special last night on the manatee. I think it was our local PBS or maybe one of our local channels. I was heartbroken.
Me too...
This painting is brilliant, wonderfully detailed as all your watercolors. Love this series!
I love your painting of the manatee - I was lucky enough to see some of these graceful slow creatures in Florida. Its a sad but true fact that man's greed will always be to the detriment of the other beings that share our planet.
Another beautiful piece.
It is really hard to see all that oil and know that it is going to bring so much harm. And then how much harm are they going to cause with what they use to try to clean it up? so frustrating.
